Phenolic compounds dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction in honey
Main Article Content
Abstract
Minor components in honey constitute a nutritional and therapeutic source for humans. These reach more than 200 compounds, and their physical-chemical properties depend on the botanical and geographical origin. Phenolic compounds are phytochemical natural products of the secondary metabolism of plants. These are responsible for most of the antioxidant activity in honey. The determination of this compounds is very important in the characterization of honeys, which increases their added value. Currently, there are different techniques for the determination of these analytes in this beekeeping matrix. However, dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction is a selective and sensitive sample preparation technique for performing this analysis. The most frequently detectors used in the analysis of phenolic compounds are spectrophotometric (UV and diode array) and mass detector. The mass analyzers regularly used are the ion trap analyzer, the triple quadrupole, as well as the hybrid Orbitrap mass analyzer.
