Abstract

The habits of consumption of foods have suffered important changes in many countries during the last two decades and, in consequence, new production techniques, preparation and distribution of foods have been developed. Consequently, it is necessary an effective control of the hygiene, in order to avoid the harmful consequences that derive on illnesses and the damages caused by food and its deterioration also for health and the economy. The normalization, through a uniform systems of documentation, classification and code, allows to create the favorable conditions for the commercialization of foodstuffs thru quality specifications and research methodologies, in agreement with the demands of the markets and the expectations of the clients. The establishment of actualized Standard Documents for beekeeping products, it is guaranteed the order, coordination and regulation of the industrial development and beekeeping economy for society benefit in agreement with national and international legal requirements. They also allow appropriate product security as well as their  safety for human consumption. During the period 2007-2012, the Standard Technical Committee No. 3 Beekeeping, with headquarters on the Beekeeping Research Center, has achieved its objectives to actualize and complete Cuban Beekeeping Standard Base that has 27 Standards: 14 Beekeeping Standards, 9 Company Standards and 4 Cuban Standards. After revision process the Standard Beekeeping Base increases to 33 Standards, it increase 5 Cuban Standards and the Manual of Good Beekeeping Practices which includes 6 standards were enterprise standards.


All the Cuban Beekeeping Standards were modernized according to the new national and international regulations. It was actualized Cuban Beekeeping Terms Standard as well the new Cuban Beekeeping Standards include those related to monofloral the honeys.   


This has allowed that the Cuban Beekeeping Enterprise (APICUBA) has a standard support that protects and endorses Cuban hive products face international market demands.
