EVALUATION OF TWO HIDROALCOHOLICS EXTRACTS OF PROPOLIS FOR IN VITRO CONTROL OF Colletotrichum gloeosporioides (Penz.) Penz. & Sacc. CAUSAL AGENT OF MANGO (Mangifera indica L.) ANTRACNOSIS.
Main Article Content
Abstract
Propolis is a resinous substance produced by several species of honey bees (Apis spp.) (Gil et al., 2012) from buds and exudates of certain plants. One of the most important properties of propolis is its antimicrobial activity has been mainly attributed to the presence of flavonoids. The Colletotrichumg loeosporoides(Penz.) Penz. & Sacc fungus is considered highly polymorphic and polyphagous, causes the disease known as anthracnose in mango (Mangifera indica L.) (Nelson, 2008 and Parra, 2008). In Cuba, different hydroalcoholic extracts for use in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food and medicine are produced. However, there are a few related to the application of these extracts for the control of pathogens that cause disease in fruit studies. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of two propolis hydroalcoholic extracts (PHE) in the control of C. gloeosporioides causal agent of mango antracnosis.
