Physicochemical evaluation of a pollen extract for cosmetic use
Main Article Content
Abstract
Pollen contains in a complete manner all the essential elements for life; compensates the mineral and electromagnetic deficiencies, heartens metabolism, increases vascular resistance, prevents fatigue, extends the vital strength and natural immunities, and rejuvenates tissues. Its most important components are proteins and oligoelementos. In this work the results of physical-chemical study of pollen extract with anti-aging prospects are discussed. The extract was obtained from the pollen provided by the Fomento town Beekeeping company, in Sancti Spiritus province and was prepared from an hydro alcoholic maceration Protein determination was carried out using the Kjeldahl method; Cole Parmer Illinois pH meter and the mineral analysis was performed on an atomic absorption spectrophotometer Pye Unicam , ECP9 model. The studied Pollen extract presented 6.3% moisture, 4.8% fat, 23.3% protein, 2.6% ash, 6.3 pH and high minerals containing (Zn, Fe, Ca, K). Pollen extract presented in its chemical composition a high minerals and protein containing, which gives features such as antioxidants, reparative and metabolic regulator that may be related to anti-aging effects on the skin; which allows us to continue further studies in the formulation of a cream containing this extract.
