EFFECT OF THE NUTRITIONAL COMPLEMENT APIASMÍN IN THE ELDERS ADULT'S ANEMIA

Abstract
Anemia is the hematic threat more often and common in elderly being so a health problem in this group because of its vulnerability to it. It was designed a mixture of honey, bee bread and propolis as food complement, knew with its commercial name as APIASMIN. This work has the objective of evaluate Apiasmin efficacy as national natural nutritional complement to treat elderly anemia. Test was organized on 2013 by a research agreement between Centro de Investigaciones Apícolas and the Elderly Home “Alfredo Gómez Gendra”. It was designed a quasi-test:” old people will participate was distributed into two groups: a control group with conventional anemia treatment and Apiasmin and a second group only supplemented with Apiasmín. It was stated as success variables: body weight, hemoglobin and age. It was also made a nutritional evaluation to determine elderly functional situation it was applied Katz index and Lawton Scale. At the test end average hemoglobin in the study group was 12.02 g/L with an average growth of 1.67 g/L, this significant growth was not on the control group. Elderly with no other handicap have a good evolution during treatment (Student T t= 7,03) with some Disabilities it was not positive results. Apiasmin as nutritional complement is effective for elderly anemia treatment. Disabilities interfere on treatment efficacy.
