Agronomic indicators assesment in three species of honeybee flora

Abstract
The objectives of the work were to evaluate some agronomic indicators of three melliferous species under backyard conditions and to demonstrate the ways of multiplication of plants with melliferous potential at local level. The studied species were: Baría (Cordia gerascanthus L.); Leñatero (Gouania polygama (Jacq.) Urb. & Campanilla Blanca (Turbina corymbosa (L.) Raf. The variables in the study were: germination, diameter of the shafts and height of the plants or length of the shafts for the case of the creeping and climbing lianas. The germination of all the species by means of sexual seed was superior to 75 percent, while G. polygama, for asexual propagation was inferior to this value. The variability in the way of agamic propagation was superior to the gamic one and, inside this; C. gerascanthus had the smallest variation. The height of C. gerascanthus at the age of seven months, demonstrated a moderate growth. The length of the climbing lianas sowed in bags was superior to 50 cm, while the length of G. polygama sowed by cuttings overcame seven meters with the use of stakes. The G polygama diameter, for asexual propagation had the biggest variability in relation to the sexual one, being T. corymbosa superior to G polygama in this last propagation way. It is concluded that the study represents a contribution to the conservation and sustainable potential use of the biological diversity at local level, at low cost, to increase the nectarous and pollen sources in the beekeeping of the territory. It is suggested to extend the study to other melliferous species and to validate it under production conditions.
