Effectiveness of the 10% propolis tincture in the treatment of patients with dentin hyperesthesia

Abstract
Dentinary hyperesthesia (HD) is a common disease of wide global distribution. In Cuba it is also very common; however there are not many national studies about it. An explanatory, controlled, randomized and prospective study was carried out with the objective of determining the effectiveness of the 10% propolis tincture in the treatment of patients with dentin hyperesthesia. The universe consisted of patients over 19 years of age with a clinical diagnosis of dentin hyperesthesia who attended the stomatology clinic of the Dr. Mario Muñoz Monroy polyclinic in the period from October 2016 to April 2017, the sample was constituted by all those who They gave their consent to participate in the research (n = 120). Two working groups I group (study group) were treated with 10% propolis tincture and group II (control group) received conventional treatment with Profilac, the allocation of patients was done randomly. The even numbers were included in the study group, and the odd numbers in the control group. The female sex predominated and the group of 35-59 years, the evolution of the patients was faster and more satisfactory in the study group as in, demonstrating the effectiveness of the 10% propolis tincture in the treatment of dentine hyperesthesia.
