Resumen

La salud, el desarrollo y el desempeño de Apis mellifera se ha visto afectado por una amplia variedad de patógenos. De los cuales, Varroa destructor, Nosema spp., Paenibacillus larvae y virus ARN son los que mayor impacto han tenido en la apicultura. Diversas técnicas y metodologías han sido desarrolladas e implementadas para la investigación de estos cuatro grupos de patógenos. De ellas, el empleo de marcadores moleculares usando PCR ha ido ganando terreno en este sentido en las últimas décadas. Las abejas cubanas, Apis mellifera, no han quedado libres de los efectos negativos de estos patógenos. Teniendo esto en cuenta, esta revisión se centra en los métodos moleculares empleados a nivel mundial y en Cuba para el diagnóstico de estas enfermedades en Apis mellifera.
